5 Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Start your CNA career today! You will learn the basic principles and procedures of patient care. Concepts of basic human needs, basic nursing and personal care skills, mental health and social needs, and restorative services will be addressed.  Information about residents’ and clients’ rights, pertinent laws and ethical issues will also be introduced. You will be taught the proper way to move patients and the basics of personal care, feeding, bathing and other skills necessary to provide quality healthcare to patients in hospitals, residents in long term care facilities, and clients in their homes. The course includes practice and demonstration of skills in the laboratory and participation in clinical experiences. Your training will include 80 classroom hours and 24 clinical hours. The clinical experience will be conducted at Coleman House in Northborough. Upon successful completion of this 104 hour course, you will be certified as a Home Health Aide and will be eligible to take the practical and written certification exams to become a certified nurse assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. You must provide a copy of their certificate to register for this class.  This second class will fulfill the three-month apprenticeship requirement needed before taking the Massachusetts Auto Damage Appraiser Exam. You will complete your apprenticeship through classroom lecture and hands-on work with vehicles provided by Assabet’s Auto Collision Tech Shop. You will use crash manuals to practice writing appraisals on the forms used to take the MA exam. The curriculum will include reviewing and discussing damage on different vehicles; a detailed explanation of how to use crash manuals; practice writing appraisals correctly using procedure pages; and studying and reviewing insurance company and auto body procedures.
