S14SL01 - Hands-On Sailing Lessons
Join us for six evenings of classroom and on-water instruction. You will learn and practice the basics of sailing (including safety, knots, rigging, steering, trimming sail, and landing) in our safe and stable White 14’s and under the watchful eyes of our trained instructors. If you choose to become a member, you may apply for helmsman certification. All the information you need is included in this course, although 4-6 hours of additional practice is recommended.
This course is held at beautiful Quinsigamond State Park under the auspices of Regatta Point Community Sailing.
Note: You need to be a capable swimmer and should wear rubber soled sneakers or athletic shoes. Directions to Regatta Point will be sent upon registration.
Regatta Point Community Sailing instructors will teach this course. (Casey Duva, Manager, RPCS)
April 22 - May 7 3 weeks/12 hours Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
S14SL03 - Safe Power Boating
Boating safety skills may save your life! This comprehensive course for pleasure power boaters covers essential information and regulations including: choosing a boat, equipment for your boat, trailering your boat, handling your boat, your “highway” signs on the water, and the rules you must follow.
Additional material (and short State exam) will be available to youths aged 12-15 who require a Massachusetts Boating Safety Certificate to operate a power boat by themselves. This course also fulfills adult requirements for State Boating Safety Certificates in New England; many insurance companies will discount boat insurance premiums to graduates.
Note: Cost of text is $35 and is payable to instructor on first night.

S14SL05 - Badminton
Badminton is not just a backyard sport for summer barbecues; it’s a long-standing Olympic sport - a fast-paced game of reflexes equally popular with men and women. Although the instructor will be available to go over the rules and strategies of badminton, this is an “open play” class.
Note: Badminton racquets and shuttles are provided.
Peter Collins is an experienced badminton player who played at the collegiate level in England.

S14SL06 - Table Tennis (Ping Pong) with Instruction
This hour and a half beginner’s course teaches you how to serve, return, and create and extend rallies all while taking what you know and expanding on it or giving you some new tricks. A standard evening includes drilling on targeted skills and playing singles and doubles. Instruction is personalized and the drills hand picked by session based on the needs of the class or individual.
Rob and Chris Randall, a father/son duo, will team-teach this course. They have played competitively and have taught at Assabet After Dark for years.

S14SL07 - Table Tennis (Ping Pong) - Advanced Pick-Up Recreational
This is non-instructional “pick-up” game time for experienced or advanced players.
Note: If you aren’t familiar with the game, we recommend that you take Table Tennis (Ping Pong) with Instruction before signing up for this class.

S14SL08 - Volleyball - Pick-Up Recreational
Feel mentally but not physically tired from a day at the office? Get rid of that pent-up 9 to 5 office stress with some stimulating exercise. This course is basically two hours of free play pick-up volleyball games.
Note: If you aren’t familiar with the game, we recommend that you take a volleyball with instruction class before signing up for this course. Fills fast, so sign up now!

S14SL10, S14SL11- Golf for Beginners
This class is designed for the novice or beginner golfer who has the desire to learn the game of golf. We will cover correct grip, stance, full swing fundamentals, chipping, putting, and general golf rules. During the first class, the instructor will discuss club selection and needs.
Note: Bring a mid-iron to the first class. The instructor will supply clubs for anyone who does not have them. Please meet the instructor at the front entrance of the school at 9:00 AM. Class will meet rain or shine.
Tom D’Orazio is an experienced golfer and a former club champion. Over the last twenty-five years, he has been a golf instructor in local continuing education programs.

S14SL12 - Golf for Advanced Beginners
This class is designed for individuals who have taken golf lessons or who have had some golf experience and would like to refine their skills.
Note: Bring a mid-iron to the first class. The instructor will supply clubs for anyone who does not have clubs. Please meet the instructor at the front entrance of the school at 10:30 AM. Class will meet rain or shine.

S14SL17 - Dog Training Basics
Please bring plastic bags and paper towels for clean-up.
Both you and your dog will enjoy this training class that uses positive reinforcement and reward-based training methods to teach your dog basic commands. You’ll learn how to use and adapt the class exercises to real life issues like leash pulling, biting and chewing, house training, and jumping.
Note: Please bring a collar (no choke chains or prong collars), a 6’ leash (no flexi leads), a towel or mat and lots of soft bite-size treats for your dog. All puppies must have begun or completed their vaccination series and be in good health to attend.
Dogs of all ages welcome. No previous training required.
Luis Avery has been training, showing, and breeding dogs for almost 30 years. In 1998 he and his wife established It's a Dog's Life, Inc., in Bolton, MA where they board, groom and train dogs.
