What do I do the first night of class?
Students with classes beginning March 5 through March 8 should report to the auditorium on the first night of class. Orientation for classes starting at 6:30 or 7:00 PM will start at 6:30 PM. Instructors will be introduced and room assignments given at this time, so please show up on time and avoid getting lost, confused and frustrated.
If you are taking a class which begins before 6:30 or after 7:00 PM, please report to the front lobby on the first night. Your instructor will meet you in the front lobby and take you up to your classroom. There will also be an easel in the front lobby with a list of classes starting each night and a map showing their location in the building. Students taking a weekend course will meet their instructor in the front lobby unless otherwise instructed.
Students who are taking courses starting after March 8 should report to the front lobby on the first night. The instructor will meet the class and take it to the appropriate room. We thank you in advance for your patience and sense of humor in getting through the opening night craziness!

Class cancellations & snow policy
Occasionally due to unforeseen circumstances (snow, power outages, instructor illness, etc.) the Center for Continuing Education must cancel a scheduled class. Cancelled classes are always made up (same day of week and time) by extending the finish date of the course, unless other arrangements are made between the instructor and the class and approved by the Director of Continuing Education. When the day school is cancelled due to snow conditions, evening classes are also cancelled. In the event day classes are not cancelled and the weather worsens, a decision will be made by 4 PM and relayed to the following radio and television stations: WBUR 90.9 FM, WXLO 104.5 FM, WSRS/WTAG 580 AM, WSRO 1470 AM, WRKO 680 AM, WBZ 1030 AM, WBZ TV, WHDH TV.

Weekend Courses
If you are taking a class which meets on a Saturday or a Sunday, please meet the instructor in the front lobby just inside the main entrance. If it should snow on a weekend, the procedure is as follows:
- the instructor will give students his/her home phone number
- if it snows, the instructor will decide whether he/she will hold class
- approximately 1 hour before class is scheduled to begin, students then call the instructor to determine if class has been cancelled
- if the class is cancelled the course will be extended one week.
