9997 Sailing Fundamentals This course is based on the textbook, Sailing Fundamentals (the Learn-to-Sail manual of the American Sailing Association), and the America's Boating Course (ABC) safety course from the USCG Auxiliary. The course is intended to provide recreational users with a combination of sailing theory, seamanship techniques, legal responsibilities, the latest Federal regulations and other topics to assist you in becoming an informed and proficient sailor. Many insurance companies discount boat insurance premiums to graduates holding a certificate for the ABC component of the course. Cost of texts and materials is $50 and payable to instructor on the first night. 10 weeks/ 20 hours Bob DeMeo is a U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla Commander and an avid sailor.
