9996 Safe Powerboating Boating safety skills may save your life! This comprehensive course for pleasure powerboaters covers essential information and regulations. Topics include which boat is for you, equipment for your boat, trailering your boat, handling your boat, your "highway" signs on the water, and the rules you must follow. Many insurance companies discount boat insurance premiums to graduates holding a certificate from this course. Massachusetts laws also require anyone ages 12 to 15 operating any powerboat by themselves to have completed an authorized boating safety class. This course fulfills requirements for Massachusetts State Boating Safety Certificate. Cost of text is $30 and is payable to instructor on first night. 9 weeks/18 hours Dennis DeGabriele and John Polomarenko are U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary coxswains and Auxiliary Specialists in Navigation.
